The Abhyanga is a part of the Dinacharya or daily practices specified by the Brhat Trayi and Laghutrayi series of Ayurvedic textbooks to maintain good bodily health and mental well-being.
What about eating and drinking?
To get the best benefits out of the massage, it is advisable to eat at least 2 hours prior to the appointment. If you feel hungry closer to the treatment time, a piece of fruit or something light should do. For the steam treatments, it is advised that you drink approximately 4 litres of water in the 24 hours after your treatment....and at least 2 liters out of the 4 in the first 4-6 hours after your treatment.
